Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CLC? How is it different from an IBCLC?

Certified Lactation Counselor. For this certification, I completed a training and passed an exam through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. I have been working casually as a CLC since 2022. An IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. The education and training is more rigorous, but when it comes down to patient care, it is similar and both certifications can help with lactation questions.

Do you have clinic visits instead of home visits?

At this moment, I do not have an office for visits, but can see you and your baby in your home in the Alexandria area. See the services tab for more information on this.

What is Craniosacral Therapy/Myofascial Release?

Craniosacral Therapy/ Myofascial Release (CST/MFR) is a dynamic light touch therapy that incorporates gentle movement and deep relaxation to bring balance to all systems of the body. For babies specifically, this can look like tightness in the head/neck/shoulders from birth, not wanting to turn their head one way or another or a “flat spot” (plagiocephaly), among many other things. The goal of CST/MFR is to help release some of that tension. It can also help with breastfeeding and making sure the latch and positioning are correct.
